Junior Savers Week 2025 is Coming to Carrick-on-Suir Credit Union!
Theme: “Save the Day: A Week of Fun, Facts, and Future Finances!”
Dates: Monday 22nd – Sunday 28th September 2025
At Carrick on Suir Credit Union, we are delighted to take part once again in Junior Savers Week, a nationwide initiative created by the Irish League of Credit Unions to promote good saving habits and financial awareness among children. This year’s event runs from 22nd to 28th September 2025, and we’re inviting families, schools, and the wider community to join us in celebrating the importance of financial education for the next generation.
What Is Junior Savers Week?
Junior Savers Week is an annual campaign focused on encouraging children aged 5 to 12 to start thinking about money, saving, and how to make smart financial choices from a young age. Through fun and engaging activities, it introduces young savers to essential financial skills that will benefit them for life.
The 2025 theme, “Save the Day: A Week of Fun, Facts, and Future Finances!”, reflects the aim of empowering children with the knowledge and tools to understand money — and to become confident savers and spenders as they grow.
As part of the campaign, credit unions across the country — including right here in Carrick on Suir — will be highlighting the work we do to support young people in our community. This includes school savings schemes, youth outreach, basic savings accounts, financial literacy competitions, and even scholarships and bursaries in some cases.
We’re proud to play our part in nurturing financially responsible future members of our community.
A Week of Daily Financial Themes
Each day during Junior Savers Week will focus on a unique financial theme, providing structure to the learning experience and encouraging children to explore different aspects of money in a fun and age-appropriate way:
- Money Monday (September 22nd) – What is money? Where does it come from? Why do we need it?
- Take Home Tuesday (September 23rd) – Understanding income, allowance, and the concept of earning.
- Wise Spend Wednesday (September 24th) – How to make good decisions with money and avoid impulse buying.
- Thoughtful Thursday (September 25th) – The value of planning ahead and setting savings goals.
- Future Friday (September 26th) – Thinking long-term about money, savings, and dreams for the future.
These topics are supported by a full set of activities for schools, including classroom worksheets, quizzes, and discussions designed to get children talking and thinking about money in meaningful ways.
This year also sees a renewed focus on school and classroom engagement, with a structured Teacher Pack and a printable leaderboard to encourage class participation. While we won’t host downloads on our own site, all these fantastic resources can be found on the official Irish League of Credit Unions website.
Schools Can Win an iPad
As part of the celebrations, there’s an exciting competition open to participating schools. Every class that registers will be entered into a draw to win an iPad — a great incentive to take part in the week and get students involved.
Each class counts as one entry, so the more classes that join in, the more chances your school has to win. It’s a simple and fun way to bring financial education to life and get rewarded for your efforts.
Please note: Only teachers can register for the competition, and registration must be completed through the official League of Credit Unions website.
How to Get Involved
If you’re a teacher, we encourage you to explore the resources available and register your class for this year’s Junior Savers Week.
If you’re a parent, talk to your child’s school or reach out to us — we’d be happy to provide information or support to help schools get involved.
