An Incredible Evening at the 2026 Carrick-on-Suir Credit Union Schools Quiz
The 2026 Credit Union Schools Quiz proved to be a wonderful celebration of learning, teamwork, and community spirit, and Carrick-on-Suir Credit Union was delighted to host our local quiz event once again this year.
As part of the nationwide Credit Union Schools Quiz, schools from across the country took part in this much-anticipated annual event. On the night, 23 teams made up of 92 talented students from twelve schools within our common bond area gathered in the Carraig Hotel, Carrick-on-Suir, for an evening filled with fun, excitement, and friendly competition. From the very first round, it was clear that the standard was exceptionally high, with teams displaying impressive knowledge, focus, and teamwork throughout the evening.
We were honoured to welcome Stefan Tobin, local Carrick Swan and Tipperary hurler, who expertly guided us through the evening’s quiz. Stefan’s warm and engaging approach helped create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, keeping both participants and supporters fully engaged from start to finish.
The quality of the competition was particularly evident in the A (U11s) category, where the final result had to be decided by a tiebreaker, highlighting just how closely matched the teams were on the night. Clonea Power National School emerged as worthy winners of the A category after an exciting finish. The B (U13s) category also showcased an outstanding standard, with Presentation Primary School delivering an excellent performance to claim first place. Their teamwork, focus, and determination were evident throughout the evening and were a credit to both the students and their teachers.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Carraig Hotel for hosting the event and providing a welcoming and well-organised venue, which contributed greatly to the success of the evening.
Events like the Credit Union Schools Quiz would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of so many people behind the scenes. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our directors, staff, and volunteers, along with the teaching staff from all participating schools, whose cooperation and hard work ensured the event ran smoothly and successfully.
While the competition was fierce, the evening was ultimately about more than winning. It was a celebration of learning, confidence-building, and community involvement, with students creating memories that will last long after the final questions were answered. We are extremely proud of every team that took part.
Congratulations once again to Clonea Power National School and Presentation Primary School, and best of luck to all our winning teams as they progress to the next stage of the Credit Union Schools Quiz. Carrick-on-Suir Credit Union is proud to support initiatives that encourage young people to learn, grow, and thrive within our community.
